In one year, 12 million people experience Domestic Violence (DV). This means 24 individuals experience DV each minute. For the Deaf population, this statistic doubles. This means, one of two Deaf individuals experience DV. That is 50% of our population. Wow. DV occurs everyday! It can happen to anyone. When you think of DV, is it only physical harm? Not necessarily… Additional examples include, insults, oppression, trust issues, sexual coercion or abuse, financial control, questioning one’s sanity and self worth, and emotional blackmailing.
